ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan on Thursday called for a countrywide protest against police raid at a youth convention of his party.
“We're going to protest all over Pakistan tomorrow,” said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman, said Khan while talking to media outside his residence.
He asked all the workers to protest tomorrow (Friday) wherever they are, against the police crackdown.
He said November 2 would now be the biggest event after what happened at youth convention.
“Islamabad high court allowed us to protest, protest is our right and protest is on, come what may,” he said.
He said he was confident that a more charged up crowd would come out on Nov 2.
“I’m going for jalsa tomorrow in Pindi, then arrest me under Sec 144,” he said.
Later Talking to Hamid Mir at Capital Talk show, Imran Khan warned of severe public backlash if the government arrested him.
Police on Thursday arrested over 100 workers of the PTI as they gathered in Sector E-11 area to attend a Youth Convention ahead of party’s planned “lockdown” of the federal capital and hours after Islamabad High Court’s order against the PTI’s plan.
The convention was being held hours after Imran Khan said he would go ahead with his plan of closing down the capital come hell or high water. He said he would challenge the orders passed by the Islamabad High Court.
