LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Siraj-ul-Haq said on Wednesday that PTI chairman Imran Khan had not taken him or his party into confidence regarding the upcoming 'Islamabad Lockdown' protest which is all set to take place on November 2.

Speaking to journalists in Lahore, Siraj-ul-Haq said that the upcoming Islamabad sit-in protest was Imran Khan and his party's program. He stated that government institutions had failed to provide protection to the people of Pakistan. Siraj stated that the government and parliament must have a tenure of four years. He cited the example of developed countries and said that those states followed a system in which government's fulfilled a four-year term.

Siraj claimed that in his party's upcoming 'Pakistan Bachao, Corruption Mukao' march, the downtrodden and common man will be mobilized to voice his protest against the powerful elite. He said that the elite were holding the reins of the country by force since a long time and same was the case till date.

"The fate of the common man will not be changed till the corrupt elite is not brought to book in Pakistan," he said.

PTI chief Imran Khan has decided to launch a protest against the federal government on November 2, terming it as the 'Islamabad Lockdown' protest. Imran Khan has threatened the government that if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif does not resign and allow an independent inquiry into the Panama Leaks controversy, then the PTI protest would close down the federal government and prevent authorities from operating.
