KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that he has constituted a special team to reinvestigate Karsaz attack which had claimed more than 180 lives of innocent people who had gathered to receive their leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

This he said while talking to media at `Memorial of Martyrs’ at Karsaz today where he went to offer fateha and lay floral wreath on the memorial.

He said that unfortunately investigation into the Karsaz incident of Oct 18, 2007 could not take place properly. “This delay is because of the conspiracy under which the evidence of the incident was removed instantly – but it doesn’t mean that the investigation cannot be made further- yes I would do it again as Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto has issued me instructions for the purpose,” he aid.

The chief minister said that his party is the party of martyrs and “we [PPP leaders} are the custodian of the martyrs,” he said and added that the party has given compensation to the families of martyrs and those who have been left would be also compensated. “We would not leave them alone,” he assured.

He said that Bilawal Bhutto has launched his political struggle from Oct 16 rally. The response of people of Karachi was unprecedented, therefore the struggle of the chairman would also be a historic. “I am thankful to the people of Karachi who welcomed PPP chairman and the party,” he said and assured the Karachiites that he would be serving them with his heart and soul.

Replying to a question, he said that the federal government has constituted a cabinet committee on energy in which only one chief minister [Shahbaz Sharif] is always invited by ignoring the others, “This is not a fair policy – all the province must be treated equally,” he said and warned the federal government not to develop one province at the cost of others.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that he was not against the development of Punjab or any other province. “I am a citizen of Pakistan and all the cities and provinces of the country are my cities and provinces, I am not against the development of any city [Lahore} but some people have told me that the development share of other cities [Punjab] are spent only on one city [Lahore]. There must be equal treatment,” he lamented.

Talking about Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that if he was the longest serving Governor what is wrong with it. He is the representative of federal government and if they want to continue him it is their decision.

He said the meeting of Governor with Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto was a routine meeting. The chairman has not invited him to join the party.
