LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is gearing up for the Raiwind March today despite Thursday’s escalation in border tensions with India.
The party activists and supporters from all over the country are reaching Lahore. In a related development, a meeting of party leaders took place in the morning to finalize the speech of PTI chairman.
After the meeting, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said we have completed our consultations and Imran Khan would give a strong message to India. ‘Whole nation is united to defend the country and the rulers must get ready for accountability.’
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has instructed the police to provide foolproof security to the rally participants. All the schools in the vicinity were ordered to stay closed as part of security measures by the administration.
After border incident in which two Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom, Imran Khan said the rally on Friday will convey a loud and clear message to Indian Prime Minister Narendera Modi, which even Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif could not give so far.
He said the PTI would come up with a massive power show today.
On Thursday, the city administration informed the PTI that Indian intelligence agency RAW has planned a terror activity during its rally at Adda Plot.
On this the PTI Chief said whenever the party started exposing the corruption of rulers, terror threats started coming to the fore, adding that Tehreek-e-Insaf was not afraid of any threat and as far the security situation was concerned, it was the duty of the sitting government to provide it.
