ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif had a telephonic conversation during which they discussed situation at the Line of Control (LoC), sources said Thursday.

Sources said Gen. Raheel apprised the premier over the firing incidents at the LoC.

According to the sources, Gen. Raheel told PM Nawaz that Indian claims of surgical strikes were baseless.

The Premier, during the conversation said, the entire nation had high morale and was committed to defend the mother land along with the armed forces.

Two Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom when Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday morning, the ISPR confirmed.

ISPR dismissed Indian claims of surgical strikes, adding that there had been cross border fire initiated and conducted by India which is existential phenomenon, the ISPR said.

Earlier, PM Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned unprovoked and naked aggression of Indian forces along the LoC and declared that Pakistan's valiant armed forces are fully capable of defending the territorial integrity of the country.

He said Pakistan can thwart any evil design to undermine the sovereignty of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister warned that Pakistan's intent for peaceful neighbourhood should not be mistaken as its weakness.

Nawaz Sharif paid rich tributes to jawans who have been martyred during unprovoked firing by Indian forces.
