RAHIM YAR KHAN: A mass wedding in Chak 100B joined 63 couples in holy matrimony on Sunday; the ceremony was attended by over 1200 guests and was hosted by a social-welfare organization.
The colourful event saw grooms arriving in their own unique style, some drove in on tractors, trucks, cars and even rickshaws. The stage was set, the decorations were up and every groom was received like a king.
The social-welfare organization arranges mass-weddings for those who cannot afford it with a special priority for orphan girls. The organization pays for all expenses incurred from hosting the event, to the bride and grooms attires as well as a dowry for the brides.
The event was attended by the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah who was the chief guest.
The organizers hope to wed another 50 couples but are currently facing difficulty in arranging the finances for expenses that will be incurred.
