ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has admitted petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and Watan Party to investigate Panama Leaks removing objections raised by the Registrar Office.
Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the pleas and set aside all the objections. The CJ directed the court office to fix the case for hearing in open court to be heard by a three-member bench.
The registrar office of the apex had returned the petitions for not being maintainable. It ruled that the petitioners had not approached the proper forum with further objection that the petitions prima facie appear to be ‘frivolous’ within the contemplation of Order XV11, Rule 5 of the Supreme Court Rules 1980.
The political parties are seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the basis of Panama Leaks, which revealed that his children own offshore companies.
The constitutional petitions moved under article 184(3) maintained that resultantly a direction be issued to the parties to arrest the culprits to recover and bring the national exchequer back to Pakistan which was illegally transferred to any other country.
