KARACHI: The father of slain Burhan Wani has said that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif rightly addressed the Kashmir issue at the United Nations.

In an interview with Indian media, Muzaffar Wani said Burhan loved playing cricket and wanted to join army. “He would have loved to play for India, not Pakistan.”

“When Bhagat Singh was fighting against the British, they called him a terrorist, but Indians maintained he was a freedom fighter. When the problem of Kashmir will be solved, India will realise Wani was a freedom fighter.”

Refusing to accept Pakistan’s involvement in Uri attack, he said “We don't know where these fighters are coming from or infiltrating as the borders are sealed by the Indian forces. What is the Indian Army doing?”

Insisting on peaceful solution to Kashmir conflict, Wani said, “the better way is dialogue between India and Pakistan so that there's peace in Pakistan and also in India”.

Endorsing the statement of PM Nawaz that attacks could be reactions to Indian atrocities, he noted that it's necessary to solve the Kashmir problem else, these attacks may happen.

“More than 100 people have been killed in Kashmir in the last two months. He (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) hasn't shown any grief.”
