ISLAMABAD: Veteran Pakistani journalist and host of Geo News' flagship current affairs show, Hamid Mir, baffled an Indian journalist on Friday so much so that he wasn't able to answer Mir's hard-hitting question.
During a transmission of Geo News' program 'Dopahar Ki Khabar', Hamid Mir asked the hostile Indian journalist Oma Singh, whether Bhagat Singh was a freedom fighter or a terrorist?
Unable to answer for the Indian media and government's double standards over terming Burhan Wani a terrorist, Oma Singh refused to answer the question of whether Bhagat Singh, considered by India as a decorated freedom fighter, was a terrorist or a freedom fighter.
"If Bhagat Singh can be termed a freedom fighter, then Burhan Wani, who was fighting in a disputed area known as Jammu and Kashmir according to the United Nations resolution against Indian forces, who are occupiers of that territory, is also a freedom fighter," said Hamid Mir.
Hamid Mir also questioned whether Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by a Hindu or a Muslim. Just like the previous question posed by Mir, this too was ignored by the Indian journalist, who refused to answer and tried to divert attention away from the topic.
Riots have broken out in occupied Kashmir ever since Burhan Wani, a freedom fighter, was assassinated by Indian security forces. More than one hundred civilians have been killed and thousands have been injured ever since riots broke out in July.
