KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly, belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, Khawaja Izharul Hassan in three cases pertaining to sedition and facilitating anti-state and hate speeches.
Izhar got protective bail from the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday which directed him to surrender before the trial court. The Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly, along with other party leaders had been booked in three police stations of district Malir for allegedly facilitating and arranging MQM founder’s hateful remarks against the state.
MQM leader submitted in his plea that he was falsely implicated in the cases with an intention of harassment and humiliation. He requested the court to grant him a bail as according to him all the charges labeled against him were baseless.
After hearing the arguments, the ATC judge approved his bails in three cases and directed him to submit the surety bonds of Rs 25,000 for each case.
