MANCHESTER: Pakistan's One Day International cricket team captain, Azhar Ali, is expected to make his resignation public in a few hours, after Pakistan's disastrous 4-1 defeat against England.
Sources disclosed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had conveyed to Azhar Ali to step down as the ODI captain. Azhar will announce the decision in a couple of hours and the mantle will be assumed by wicket-keeper Safraz Ahmed, who will then lead the side against West Indies in the upcoming series.
Sarfraz Ahmed is also the national T20 cricket team captain and in his debut match as the skipper, Pakistan beat England on Wednesday. Pressure mounted on Azhar Ali to step down as captain after Pakistan's disastrous 4-1 loss to England in the recently-concluded ODI series.
