ISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has verified over 56 million Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) during ongoing re-verification drive.
During the campaign initiated two months back, the Authority has achieved re-verification of 60 per cent CNICs.
Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had expressed satisfaction that 334 aliens had voluntarily returned their CNICs and extended amnesty scheme deadline for another one-month only for aliens. The deadline was due to expire today August 31.
As per data regarding re-verification drive, 80 officials of authority were also identified who had willfully included aliens in Pakistani family trees for which Ch. Nisar has directed NADRA to expedite disciplinary actions against those officials of the authority responsible for including aliens in its database.
NADRA had established a helpline and an SMS gateway to facilitate people. Special training for human resources was also given to ensure successful completion of the national drive.
