ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would prove to be a game-changer and would alter the fate of this region forever.
Addressing the Economic Corridor conference, PM Nawaz heaped praise on China for not leaving Pakistan alone and stated that friendship between the two countries was gaining strength day by day.
"China never left Pakistan alone during its economic hardships," said Nawaz. "Pakistan, on the other hand, has supported China on every global platform," he said.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan and China would work together for the peace and stability of this region. He said that the benefits of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor were broad and for the long-term.
Speaking about the energy projects in Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif said that most of them would be completed by 2018. The Pakistani Premier also disclosed that an investment of Rs 35 billion had been made in the power and energy sector. He said that China was also investing in the construction of an expressway in Pakistan.
"A new era will be ushered in due to the projects that are being finalized," he said. "These projects will lend a hand in ending poverty in Pakistan," he said.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan had made its re-entry into global trading and knew how to indulge in trade with the rest of the world. He also said that Pakistan was blessed with an abundance of skilled workers. Nawaz praised the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan during his speech.
"Sun Weidong, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, is a friend of our country," he said.
