KARACHI: As the metropolis received rainfall on Sunday, five people across the city died due to different incidents.
Five people across the city were killed in different rain-related incidents of electrocution, roof and wall collapses. According to rescue officials, these deaths occurred in the areas of Civil Lines, Shireen Jinnah Colony, North Karachi and Surjani Town Sector C.
In Orangi Town MPR colony, one person was killed and another was injured when the wall of a house collapsed. The injured was shifted to the hospital while another person died in Civil Lines area when a part of the roof of a house collapsed. Rescue officials disclosed that three people died after receiving electric shock in Karachi's North Karachi, Surjani Town Sector C and Shireen Jinnah Colony in different incidents.
Soon after the city received rainfall, the city stepped into darkness as 180 feeders tripped, suspending electric supply. According to the Met office, Landhi area received the most rainfall, which was 45 milliliter. Gulistan-e-Jauhar and the airport area received 18 milliliters while Gulshan-e-Hadeed received 17 milliliters and Saddar received 4 milliliters of rainfall.
