ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar was released on the orders of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, sources informed Geo News on Saturday.
According to sources, Interior Minister Nisar had contacted Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah after Farooq Sattar was detained by Rangers following MQM founder’s provocative and anti-Pakistan speech on August 22.
Both the leaders agreed on the release of Farooq Sattar.
Sattar was among several MQM leaders detained after violent protests by MQM workers targeting media offices in Karachi.
Farooq Sattar was taken into custody by Rangers officials outside Karachi Press Club.
