KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar has strongly condemned arrest of party’s women activists and termed it “unjustified”.

Addressing a press conference along with Khawaja Izharul Hassan, MQM Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar said, “Those women arrested till now are party’s responsible workers and they have no link to the attack on media house.”

Farooq Satttar went on to say MQM is a registered political party and its office Nine-Zero is unlawfully sealed, adding that when MQM Pakistan has distanced itself from anti-Pakistan statement and London completely, there was no justification for sealing off the party’s offices.

He said the policies and decisions of MQM in Pakistan are no longer linked to the party's founder Altaf Hussain and its offices in London.

"When I say that here is no contact with London, then it means there is no contact with the MQM founder either," said Sattar.

He said that there was a need to draw a line now, and that line had been drawn on August 23.

The senior MQM leader said that, following the complete disassociation from the MQM founder and London offices, there was a need to end the political restrictions on the party and its victimization in Pakistan.

He also urged the federal and provincial government to stop ‘unjustified’ arrests.

Sattar asserted that if even after this categorical announcement TV talk shows keep speculating on this matter, MQM Pakistan leaders will not go to any such programme.

MQM leader added, “no one has the right to question our sincerity now.”
