KARACHI: Authorities on Friday continued to seal offices of the beleaguered Muttahida Qaumi Movement that were illegally set up in government buildings and parks.
As many as 218 offices have been sealed and 13 others razed to the ground since MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s speech led to an attack at a media house.
Party’s Unit and Sector offices were demolished in Cattle Colony, Sachal Colony, Tariq bin Ziad Society, Quaidabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, New Town and Kharadar Railway Colony.
178 Unit offices and 22 sector offices are said to have been established in schools, parks and lands owned by the Water Board.
Large number of spectators gathered in the areas where heavy machinery was brought to demolish the offices of the political party, with some of them stealing objects from under the rubble.
An MQM office located at the Staff Colony of the Karachi University was also vacated while posters of Altaf Hussain and party flags were removed.
According to Geo News, a number of animals found at an office of the party were moved to Edhi Shelter Home on Saturday.
