QUETTA: A personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) embraced martyrdom and an alleged militant was killed in a shootout in Sariab area of Quetta here on Friday.
A spokesman for FC said here that a patrolling vehicle was on way in Sariab area when an armed man opened indiscriminate fire on it. As a result, one personnel embraced martyrdom.
FC also retaliated against the attack and the assailant was also killed, he added.
According to sources, a suspicious object was tied to the dead body of the attacker.
Police further said that Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials were called after the attack.
Later on, BDS officials defused the bomb attached to the body of the attacker.
A hand-grenade was also recovered from the body, police said.
According to FC spokesman, the assailant has been identified as Asad alias Asmat. He is affiliated to a banned outfit.
The FC has cordoned off the entire area and launched search operation to trace the suspects.
