Nisar contacts senior British officials to discuss Altaf's speech

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan contacted senior British authorities on Monday night to discuss the inflammatory anti-Pakistan speech by MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and the British authorities he contacted discussed Altaf Hussain's speech and his action of instigating a crowd towards acts of violence. During his exchange with the UK official, Chaudhry Nisar condemned the fact that a person was using the British soil to take steps against Pakistan's security.

"MQM chief hurt the sentiments of the nation by criticizing the institutions of Pakistan," he said. "The MQM chief also hurt the sentiments and insulted people from the Urdu speaking community," he added. 

Chaudhry Nisar said that Altaf Hussain had committed serious crimes and that the British authorities should cooperate with Pakistan in bringing any person who commits serious crimes within the ambit of the law.   

MQM workers and supporters on Monday attacked the office of ARY News after party chief Altaf Hussain's instigating speech. In his speech, Altaf urged his supporters to 'break' news channels and urged them to attack the offices of Geo News, ARY News and Samaa TV. After the attack, Rangers officials raided Nine Zero and sealed the party's headquarters as well as other party offices in Sindh. Senior leaders of the party including Dr Farooq Sattar were taken into custody.
