KARACHI: Workers of the Pak Sarzameen Party on Tuesday hoisted Pakistani flag at Mukka Chowk in MQM stronghold.

MQM workers confronted the PSP activists but no clash was reported from the area. The move came hours after Muttahida Qaumi Movement Member Sindh Assembly Khalid Bin Wilayat announced to quit his party and join the Pak Sarzameen Party.

Pak Sarzameen Party is a group led by former Karachi mayor and MQM leader Mustafa Kamal who returned to Pakistan earlier this year and caused defections in his former party.

Authorities have launched a massive crackdown against MQM after Altaf Hussain's speech and the violence against media, arresting MQM leaders and sealing its headquarters and offices in Karachi and Hyerabad.

Several MQM MPAs parted their ways with their party to join hands with Kamal. Altaf Hussain’s speech on Monday drew criticism and condemnation from other political parties, with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif vowing to take action.

MQM workers attacked ARY TV office and damaged Samaa TV DSNG Van on Monday after Hussain’s speech, in which he ordered them to attack Geo News, ARY and Samaa.
