RAWALPINDI: Chaudhry Shakeel, the first husband of Samia Shahid, confessed to the police on Saturday that he had strangled her to death with her own dupatta.
Samia Shahid, 28, from Bradford, was strangled to death while visiting her family in Jehlum last month. Her husband, Mukhtar Syed Kazam, said he believed his wife was killed because her family disapproved of their marriage.
Her family had claimed that Samia was died as a result of a cardiac attack. Samia's maternal uncle had also stated the same.
However, a wound was spotted on Samia's neck which led to the speculation that she had been murdered by her relatives and she didn’t commit suicide.
According to the case proceedings, Samia’s first cousin Chaudhry Mubeen has no link with her murder conspiracy.
