NYC manholes mystery deepens after mysterious group emerges

A bizarre late-night scene in New York has caught attention after a group of men were seen emerging from a Manhattan manhole around 4 a.m. and descending into the city’s sewer system.

The recent incident has sparked speculation online regarding illegal and risky entry into the city’s infrastructure where no official statement has been issued, casting doubts about the event.

The city’s Department of Environmental Protection has already cautioned against unlawful entry into New York’s extensive sewer network citing both legal and lethal dangers. Those entering underground can face toxic gases including methane, sudden flooding and structural failures.

On social platform X, people have been responding to current incident with one user writing, “New York at 4AM isn’t a city, it’s a subterranean job fair where the mole people finally get their shift change, climb out of the manhole like it’s the 7 train, stretch, and immediately start acting like they own the sidewalk while the rest of us are still pretending this is normal…because in this town the only thing rising faster than the rent is the bodies from the sewers.”

Second remarked, “New York is a city with mysterious people. The last time we saw something like this, it was Jewish man coming out of a manhole. This could be a heist.”

The incidents come as New York continues to deal with subsurface electrical events and manhole explosions which can occur when infrastructure is damaged though officials have found no evidence linking the men to these events.
