Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a decisive eighth-inning home run as the New York Yankees beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 in the second game of a doubleheader at Yankee Stadium.

New York took an early lead through Cody Bellinger's first-inning RBI single, but the Dodgers levelled the game in the eighth inning when Tommy Edman hit a pinch-hit home run off reliever Fernando Cruz.
Moments later, Chisholm responded by driving a fastball from Evan Phillips into the opposite field for his 14th home run of the season, restoring the Yankees' lead.
The Yankees had earlier missed a major chance to extend their advantage in the fifth inning after loading the bases with no outs.
Dodgers reliever Brock Stewart escaped the jam by striking out Jasson Domínguez and Anthony Volpe, with Chisholm also recording an out.
However, Chisholm made amends with his match-winning hit, giving New York a valuable victory and ending the day on a positive note after a difficult opening game against the defending champions.
