The British police officers found no evidence in killing of former UK minister Ann Widdecombe.

While investigating her killing the police officials found no terrorism connection or political motive linked to the incident.

Soon after Widdecombe's murder news, a 26-year-old man initially arrested on Friday July,10 in Newton Abbot was released without charge and has been completely eliminated from the inquiry.

The metropolitan police also arrested a 28-years-old British male from South Yorkshire on suspicion of murder which remains in police custody on Sunday.

Devon and Cornwall ‌Police Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman updated that the investigators were not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.

While detectives stressed that they are keeping an open mind about the motive while the investigation continues.

"At this point, there is still no information to suggest that this is a terrorism-related incident, and at this point, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this murder," Devon and Cornwall police officials told reporters.

Ann Widdecombe was a social conservative who served as a junior minister in John Major's Conservative government in the 1990s.

She stepped down as a lawmaker in 2010 but later joined Nigel Farage's Reform UK as its immigration and justice spokesperson.

The 78-years-old British politician was found dead at her home in rural southwest England on Thursday July 9, with serious injuries.

Politicians from across the political spectrum have paid tribute to the former Conservative MP and Reform UK spokesperson, expressing shock and sadness over her death.

The police officials launched an immediate probe and urged the public not to speculate about possible motives in the killing of the former MP while the investigation remains ongoing.
