One killed and four others injured after magnitude 6.3 earthquake jolts Northwest China hits ‌the prefecture of Haixi in Qinghai with a depth of 10 km, the China Earthquake Networks Center reported on Tuesday.

According to China Earthquakes Network Center (CENC), the quake struck the high-altitude area at 5:06 pm Beijing time (0906 GMT) on Tuesday, 

While several aftershocks were also detected, including one measured at a magnitude of around 5.

As per the geological aspect Northwest China, particularly provinces like Qinghai is prone to seismic activity due to its location along active tectonic fault lines where the Indian and Eurasian plates collide.

Local authorities have launched investigations to determine the impact on nearby communities and critical infrastructure.

While emergency response teams remain on high alert and authorities are continuing to monitor the region for further seismic activity.
