The Masters of the Universe star admitted that he struggled with self-doubt after being cast as the legendary hero. He noted that he questioned whether he was truly the right choice.

He said, "When I first tried on the costume, I felt like a fraud."

"I said to [director] Travis [Knight], 'Are you sure you don't want anyone else?'" Nicholas added.

Sharing about his preparation for the role, the actor revealed that he ate up to 5000 calories a day and spent months lifting weights in order to play the muscle-bound hero.

Nicholas said, "The pursuit of trying to achieve that unattainable thing is really the driving force that I think a lot of us creatives deal with."

"Dolph was saying he was already in pretty good shape when he filmed Masters because he had been doing Rocky IV. I had not been training for any of the Rockies, and so I wasn't in shape," he added, referring to Dolph Lundgren, who previously played the iconic role.

Nicholas said, "I knew that the physical transformation was going to be a challenge. Nothing of that magnitude was ever going to be easy. But the thing that Travis saw in me, and the thing I knew I could do when I read the script, was embody this character — someone who, without his brawn, has many other superpowers in the way he sees people, sees the best in them and is able to be vulnerable."

"It became about trusting the process. Luckily, they gave me enough time to eat a lot of food and lift a lot of weights," he added.

Masters in the Universe, now starring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man was released on June 5.
