Is Outlook down? Microsoft email app hit by widespread outage in UK, US
64 percent issues are related to difficulty in signing in Outlook
Microsoft email app Outlook was hit by widespread outage as hundreds of users were unable to access it on Monday.
According to internet outage tracker Downdetector, the services stopped working just before 10am this morning both in the US and UK.
More than 800 users in the UK and around 400 people have faced difficulty in accessing email services. One of the main issues users are facing is in logging in, making 64 percent of issues. Other users are having difficulty in receiving messages.
Microsoft also acknowledged widespread disruption in Outlook and Hotmail services on its Service Health page. According to officials, they are investigating the issue related to accessing Outlook through various platforms.
“Our investigation indicates client sign-in scenarios may be contributing to the reported behaviour, and we're focused on validating interactions across service components to identify next steps,” the statement on the website read.
Microsoft servers communication with third-party email clients could be the reason behind the outage. As per recent update, Microsoft technicians are currently investigating the root cause of recent server failures and will provide continuous updates as they progress.
The company advises users that local fixes are unlikely to be effective until the server-side issues are fully resolved.
