‘King Charles is coming’ to the United States on his state visit, President Donald Trump has declared following the White House Correspondents' Association dinner shooting in Washington.

The man fired a shotgun at a Secret Service agent at a checkpoint in the Washington Hilton hotel before being tackled and arrested.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump were rushed out of the dinner.

Royal expert Cameron Walker took to X, formerly Twitter handle and shared Fox News clip, where the US President is speaking.

Trump said about King Charles upcoming visit, “He’s coming!

“We’re going to have a great time.”

He further said, “President Trump insists the State Visit will still go ahead in the wake of the @WHCA Dinner shooting, but discussions are understood to be ongoing between Buckingham Palace and the White House.”

Donald Trump remarks came hours after reports discussions are taking place on security planning for the King's state visit.

Earlier, the royal expert also tweeted, “BREAKING: Following the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said ‘His Majesty is being kept fully informed of developments and is greatly relieved to hear that the President, First Lady and all guests have been unharmed.
