Miranda Lambert mourns rescue dog Cher
Cher was Lambert's constant tour companion for 15 years
Miranda Lambert is mourning the loss of her longtime companion.
The country star, 42, revealed on Instagram that her beloved rescue dog, Cher, died on Saturday at age 15.
Sharing a carousel of photos spanning more than a decade, Lambert paid tribute to the chihuahua who had been by her side since the very start of her career’s biggest years.
“Our sweet bear Cher crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday,” Lambert wrote. “She gave us 15 years of love and all the chihuahua attitude and energy she had to give.”
Lambert adopted Cher from a shelter in 2010 when the dog was just 10 weeks old.
She recalled slipping the puppy into her overalls pocket at the shelter, saying, “That was it.” Cher’s first major outing came the same year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, where she appeared on the red carpet and in the press room.
“She was on every tour I have done since,” Lambert shared, thanking Cher for “all the road miles she traveled.”
When she met her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, seven years ago, she had nine rescue dogs. Now they are down to one.
Lambert married McLoughlin in January 2019, announcing the news a month later. She was previously married to Blake Shelton, with whom she split in 2015.
