KARACHI: A local court in Karachi ordered on Friday for Abdullah, who had been living in Edhi centre, to be handed over to his maternal grandmother.

According to details, Abdullah's grandmother had filed a request with the Family Court with regard to Abdullah's custody case. His grandmother had stated in her petition that Abdullah's father Chaudhry Iqbal was not fit to look after Abdullah hence she should be granted custody of the child. After handing over Abdullah's custody to his grandmother, the court declared that Chaudhry Iqbal could meet his son Abdullah anytime he wanted. Abdullah's grandmother, maternal aunt and uncle were also present.

Meanwhile, the murder case of Abdullah's mother Haleema still did not make sense to the police or investigating authorities. At first, RIzwan dropped off Abdullah to Edhi centre in Karachi and a few days later, Haleema's dead body was found from an apartment. Haleema's family stated that when the last time they called Haleema, her call was attended by Rizwan and after that, her phone was shut off.

According to police, the Haleema's murderer was Rizwan, who had strangled her to death. Chaudhry Iqbal, a resident of Khanewal, had claimed that Abdullah was his son, on June 5. However, Abdullah was not able to recognise his father when they met at Edhi centre after which the court ordered that the boy's custody be granted to his grandmother.
