KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party’s Syed Murad Ali Shah filed his nomination papers for the election of the new Chief Minister of Sindh on Thursday.
The elections are scheduled to be held on Friday.
PTI’s Khurram Sher Zaman has also filed nomination papers for the top office of Sindh province.
“We won’t give the walkover to Syed Murad Ali Shah,” PTI’s candidate announced after filing his nomination papers.
According to the elections procedure, after scrutinizing the nomination papers the final list of the candidates will be displayed.
The election for the new Chief Minister Sindh will be held at 3:00 pm tomorrow. The newly-elected chief minister would then take oath of his office at the Governor’s House on the same day.
Pakistan People’s Party enjoys majority in the provincial legislature and could elect its leader of the house without support from any other party.
PML-Functional and PML-N have not fielded their candidates against Murad Ali Shah while MQM has decided to stay away from the election process as 10 of its members were abroad and one was in police custody.
