MULTAN: Police gained access to the mobile data of Mufti Abdul Qawi on Thursday while carrying out their investigation of the Qandeel Baloch case.

The records showed that Qandeel Baloch and Mufti Qawi had been in touch via phone and the last conversation between them took place on June 22.

Police have prepared a questionnaire to interrogate Qawi and he will be called on Friday to record his response to the queries. According to sources, a total number of fourteen questions have been prepared by the police whose answers will be sought from Mufti Abdul Qawi.

It is pertinent to mention that suspended member of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Abdul Qawi had been included in the investigation of social media personality and model Qandeel Baloch’s murder which took place on July 14.

Further investigation regarding the murder is in process. Today, the central suspect Waseem, who happens to be the brother of the slain model, appeared at court and was sent on physical remand for three more days.

Earlier today, a taxi driver named Basit was arrestded in the same murder case. Police had already included Qandeel Baloch’s parents and brother-in-law in the investigation.

Qandeel Baloch was strangled to death allegedly by her brother Waseem in Multan. Waseem had confessed that he had murdered his sister for 'honour'.

Mufti Abdul Qawi had denied any involvement in the murder of Qandeel Baloch and had even offered to lead her funeral prayers at Dera Ghazi Khan.
