Denise Richards faces fresh accusation as Aaron Phypers divorce gets messy
Denise Richards used star power to get husband Aaron Phypers arrested?
Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers' divorce battle takes a shocking turn as the actress face some shocking new accusations.
As reported by Radar Online, Richards has been accused of using her star power to get estranged husband Phypers arrested.
Phypers was taken into custody on October 17, moments after divorce hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court. He was charged with two felony counts related to restraining order earlier this year, claiming that Phypers brutally assaulted her on multiple occasions.
Renowned divorce attorney Raoul Felder criticised the development, saying, "You've got to be kidding me. He was arrested for an allegation from 2022 in the middle of the divorce case. In all my 66 years of practicing law, I've never heard of anything like this happening."
"It's double jeopardy because in the civil divorce case, the judge theoretically has power over the criminal act alleged in court. If it's bad enough, he can put the person in jail. This must be an example of star power," he added.
It is pertinent to mention that Aaron Phypers' cousin testified in support of Denise Richards at an October 6 hearing. Defense attorney Peter Gleason told the outlet, "It seems like these criminal allegations are designed as leverage to benefit in the divorce proceeding."
Adding, "L.A. law enforcement is there to protect the [Hollywood] industry first and Denise just happens to be a bigger star than Aaron."
Notably, Phypers attorney, Michael D. Finley dismissed accusation as false and recycles, adding, "We expect the evidence will demonstrate Mr. Phypers' innocence and that he will be acquitted."
