The 'I Love LA' star's famous dad Forest Whitaker gave her THIS advice
True Whitaker revealed what her dad Forest Whitaker taught her.
Speaking with People Magazine, the I Love LA star shared that she received an important advice from her dad.
As True's role in the HBO comedy mirrors to her real life of having a famous dad. She shared, "[My dad has taught me] when to say no, and also to work hard and just be true to yourself."
Adding, "Working hard for authenticity will get you where you want to go."
It is pertinent to mention that previously True talked about her role, sharing that she loves her character and doesn't feel embarrassed about her nepotism.
"And to me, I feel the exact same way. I’m proud of my Black ass dad, who made something of himself and is a legend," she told Shadow and Act at the time.
She added, "And to have that so close to me, [and] to be able to pull from that and be so heavily inspired…I’ll never be embarrassed or feel weird about being associated with the greatness that he has created. And I’m hoping that I can be able to do that too."
Besides True Whitaker, Forest Whitaker, who is known for his academy award winning performance in 2006 film The Last King of Scotland, is also dad to Ocean, Autumn and Sonnet.
Notably, the episodes of I Love LA premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max.
