PANDORI: Police widened the scope of Samia Shahid's murder case by also including her friend Ambreen in the investigation, on Thursday.
According to details, police spoke to a friend of the deceased Samia Shahid named Ambreen and also included her in the investigation of her murder. As per sources, police asked Ambreen as to where were Samia's passport and other documents to which she replied that she was not in possession of either. Ambreen also said during the course of the investigation that Samia Shahid had married her husband of her free will.
Police also asked Ambreen whether she had received Samia Shahid when she arrived in Pakistan from Islamabad, to which she replied in the negative.
Samia Shahid, a British citizen of Pakistani origin, was found dead after she returned to Pakistan from England to visit her relatives. Her husband alleged that it was a case of honour killing and that her family had threatened Samia when she had left Pakistan. So far, police have not yet been able to establish whether Samia was murdered for honour or not.
On Wednesday, police had taken into custody Samia's father, cousin and her first husband for her murder.
