MULTAN: Police arrested another suspect in the murder of Qandeel Baloch on Wednesday.
According to details, Multan police arrested Basit, who had been named by Qandeel Baloch's murderer and her own brother Muhammad Waseem.
"Waseem and Haq Nawaz had arranged a cab from Multan to DG Khan and told me to reach Muzaffarabad when called," claimed Basit. "I didn’t know that they were going in order to murder Qandeel Baloch," he said.
On July 22, Waseem, the main accused in Qandeel Baloch murder case, confessed that his relative Basit Khan played guard outside the house during the murder and went back to Dera Ghazi Khan in the car rented from there.
Popular social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch was killed in Multan a couple of days ago, becoming the latest victim in the spate of "honour killings" that plague the country. Qandeel was known for her provocative picture and bold posts on Facebook which earned the ire from a certain section of the population while others viewed her as someone who was breaking social taboos in Pakistan.
So far, police have also interrogated her sister Shahnaz and sister-in-laws with regard to Baloch's murder. She was strangled to death allegedly by her brother Waseem in Multan. Waseem had confessed that he had murdered his sister for 'honour'.
