KARACHI: Sindh Assembly will elect new Chief Minister on Friday. The schedule to elect Sindh Chief Minister has been issued by Secretary Sindh Assembly.
According to the schedule, the nomination papers for Chief Minister can be submitted today from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, while election will be held on Friday (July 29).
PPP’s Syed Murad Ali Shah is main contestant for the top slot. His nomination papers would be proposed and seconded by Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Nisar Ahmed Khuhro.
Earlier on Wednesday, Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan accepted the resignation of the outgoing chief minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
With the acceptance of the resignation of the chief minister, the provincial cabinet also stands dissolved.
A notification has also been issued in this regard.
Meanwhile, talking to newsmen, Syed Murad Ali Shah said he will deliver his policy statement in Sindh Assembly session on Friday.
He said the issue of extension of powers for the Rangers has been resolved.
Replying to a question, he said the new cabinet will be formed after the consultation with the party leadership.
