Jelly Roll debuts clean-shaven look: 'Ninja turtle'
Country music star Jelly Roll shaved his face for the first time in ten years
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, has finally debuted his clean cut look.
On Thursday, November 20, the country music star revealed his transformation via a video message posted on Instagram and YouTube after shaving his face for the first time in ten years.
The 15-minutes clip opened with the Son of a Sinner hitmaker saying, "At the last time my face was shaved, I was fresh out of jail."
"I got a feeling I would look like a ninja turtle," he joked before shifting the discussion to his chin.
"I thought my chin went at least a half inch longer than it actually did, but f–k, I didn’t know. It was a failed science experiment y’all," the newly minted Grammy nominee added.
Jokes aside, he made a confession, reflecting on the emotional reason for choosing to finally shave off his facial hair after a decade.
"One of the reasons I even started growing a beard was because I was so obese. It was just easier to cover up what was happening here," the Need a Favor singer explained, pointing at his neck.
The video montage captured the entire process of him razoring his stubble and ultimately revealing his look just three minutes before it ended.
For the unversed, the 40-year-old American rapper and singer has lost over 200 pounds over the past three years so he no longer feels the need to hide behind the beard.
