Harmony in Kashmir and Palestine needed for a peaceful Asia: Ayaz Sadiq
ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on Tuesday said that one could only dream of a peaceful Asia if harmony did not exist in Kashmir and Palestine.
Presiding over a session of the Asian Parliamentary session, Sadiq spoke about terrorism in the Asian region.
"Today, the Asian parliament is facing many challenges. We should demonstrate responsibility in order to get rid of terrorism", said Ayaz Sadiq. "Militarization and terrorism are the most important problems. Without establishing peace and harmony in Kashmir and Palestine, one can only dream of peaceful Asia," he added.
He said that Pakistan was always willing to have friendly relations with different countries within the region. He cited the example of Pakistan-China economical relations as one of economical ties.
While discussing conditions in Pakistan, Ayaz emphasized that Pakistan has been a victim of terrorist activities for many years. He stated that more than 65,000 people have lost their lives due to terrorism in the country. Yet, he said that Pakistan was a responsible country whose nuclear assets were in safe hands and the government, along with the people, were trying hard to get rid of the menace of terrorism.
