No talks with India under current circumstances: Defence Minister

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister of Pakistan Khawaja Asif said on Monday that under the current circumstances, there were no chances of talks or negotiations with India. 

Asif further disclosed that Pakistan was not holding track 2 or track 3 talks with arch-rival India. Khawaja Asif further said that keeping in mind the current circumstances, there was no chance of any political developments taking place between India and Pakistan.

The Defence Minister said that Pakistan had time and again provided proofs to the international community.

"Nasser Khan Janjua will hold an important meeting with the Iranian officials with regard to Kalbhushan Yadav and important border issues," he said.

Reacting to the recent statements of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan had provided proofs of involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities that took place in Peshawar and Charsadda.

He reaffirmed the resolve that if any sanctuaries of Afghan muhajireen are left in Pakistan after they leave, then those sanctuaries would be eliminated.  Khawaja Asif urged the Afghan government to take back its refugees that were living in Pakistan. 

A couple of days earlier, India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had said that Kashmir would never become a part of Pakistan. On Sunday, Pakistan's Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that only Kashmiris had the right to decide their own future. 

The atmosphere in occupied Kashmir remains tense as the protest strike remains intact after fifty people have been martyred and more than three thousand have been injured in riots. protests erupted after freedom fighter Burhan Wani was killed by Indian security forces.
