DUBAI: A high level meeting of the Pakistan People’s Party to decide on Rangers special powers remained inconclusive on Saturday, according to Geo News.
Presided over by PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, the meeting was attended by his sister Faryal Talpur, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and others.
The rendezvous which lasted for five hours also deliberated about host of issues including a deadlock over Rangers stay and special powers , recently held election in Azad Kashmir, Panama Papers and changes in party’s organizational structure in Punjab.
Sources privy to the details told Geo News the meeting also considered replacing Sindh Home Minister Anwar Sial.
The participants suggested that a bill pertaining to Rangers powers be brought to Sindh Assembly for approval, with some of them proposing that the paramilitary force’s operations should be subjected to approval of chief minister. However, no final decision was made in this regard.
The sources said the meeting stressed that the Rangers policing powers should be confined only to Karachi.
PPP leaders are expected to meet again on Sunday (today) to reach any decision.
