MULTAN: In an interview to a foreign broadcasting organization, parents of slain model and social media personality Qandeel Baloch voiced their pain at the murder of their daughter allegedly by her brother Waseem.
In a recent interview, Qandeel's father Anwar Azeem said his son should be 'shot on sight' for murdering Qandeel.
"I say he should be shot on sight! He suffocated my little one," he said. "We were drugged, asleep upstairs. She must have called out to us."
Anwar Azeem said that his daughter was his 'best friend' but claimed that his son Waseem had been 'crazed'.
Qandeel Baloch's mother also provided an insight regarding her daughter's behaviour towards her parents. Mrs Azeem disclosed that her daughter shared all her secrets with her.
"We were mother and daughter, sharing all our sorrows and secrets. She used to tell me: 'Your daughter is working hard, she'll go far," she said.
Mrs Azeem revealed that she and her husband were also drugged by Waseem the night Qandeel Baloch was first sedated and then strangled to death.
"My husband and I fell deeply asleep. We had drunk milk, it had been mixed with sedatives," Mrs Azeem said. "In the morning, I called Qandeel for breakfast... but she didn't get up," she added.
Qandeel's mother described her daughter's corpse, saying that 'her whole face was covered in bruises, her tongue was black, her lips were black'.
Qandeel Baloch was a social media personality and model in Pakistan whose provocative pictures and bold Facebook posts angered a section of the society while others viewed her as a confidant woman who broke social taboos. She was found murdered last Friday in Multan.
Her brother Waseem confessed to drugging her then strangling her to death, for honour.
