Arshad Nadeem strikes gold as Pakistan wins two medals in Riyadh
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s javelin ace Arshad Nadeem once again proved why he stands among the world’s sporting elite, winning a gold medal Wednesday evening at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held at the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Stadium in Riyadh.
In a proud moment for Pakistan athletics, the country secured a remarkable one-two finish, with Mohammad Yasir producing a solid effort to pocket the silver medal right behind Arshad.
Arshad, though not operating at his peak, unleashed a best throw of 83.05m, well short of his monumental Olympic record of 92.97m, yet comfortably enough to dominate the field and reaffirm his supremacy on the international stage. Yasir ensured Pakistan’s firm grip on the podium with a throw of 76.04m, narrowly edging out Samuel Adam Kure of Nigeria, who settled for bronze with a distance of 76.01m.
