ISLAMABAD: The federal government has raised the prices of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) by up to 1.97 percent for consumers of both the Sui Companies for the month of November.

The hike in RLNG prices is attributed to an increase in the unaccounted-for gas (UFG) percentage. However, the small reduction in SNGPL’s RLNG transmission price is a result of a decline in the UFG percentage for SNGPLs transmission, said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority in its notification issued here Tuesday.

As per the notification, the imported gas price has been increased by 1.39 percent for the consumers of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL), while for the consumers of Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd (SSGC) it has been jacked by 1.97 percent.

According to Ogra, for SNGPL consumers, the transmission price has declined by $0.0076 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) or 0.07 percent to $11.4305 per MMBtu from 11.4381 per MMBtu in October, while the distribution rate climbed by $0.1696 per MMBtu or 1.39 percent to $12.3996 per MMBtu compared to $12.2300 per MMBtu in the previous month.

Similarly, for SSGC, the transmission price increased by $0.0067 or 0.07 percent to $10.0652 per MMBtu from $10.0585 per MMBtu in October and the distribution rate has increased by $0.2216 or 1.97 percent to $11.4520 per MMBtu from $11.2304 per MMBtu during the previous month. The updated prices include terminal charges, transmission losses, port handling costs, and margins for the state-run importer, PSO.

The weighted average sale prices are based on six LNG cargoes imported by PSO under its two long-term supply contracts with Qatar. Of the six cargoes received, four were priced at the higher slope and two at the lower rate. PSO procures four LNG cargoes at 13.37 percent and two cargoes at 10.20 percent of Brent crude prices.
