ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Salem Muhammad Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi, the newly designated envoy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Pakistan, presented his credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari at a formal ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.

Upon arrival, Ambassador Al Zaabi was received with a traditional guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces. The ceremony was attended by Special Secretary Foreign Affairs Nabeel Munir and Presidential Spokesperson Murtaza Solangi.

A former Major General of the UAE Armed Forces, Ambassador Al Zaabi now holds a senior position within the UAE Foreign Office. His appointment marks a new chapter in the longstanding and multifaceted relations between the two brotherly countries.

While accepting the credentials, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong solidarity with the UAE government and people, noting that Pakistan was the first country to recognise the UAE in 1971, following its establishment. He highlighted the historic ties between the two nations, rooted in shared faith, mutual trust, and common aspirations for regional peace and prosperity.

President Zardari highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral trade, security, and defence cooperation, while acknowledging the pivotal role of the Pakistani diaspora in strengthening relations. He extended his best wishes to Ambassador Al Zaabi for a successful tenure, expressing hope that his efforts would further deepen and broaden Pakistan-UAE relations.
