DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Security forces eliminated more than 10 terrorists, including a prominent leader, during a major intelligence-based operation in Kalachi tehsil on Sunday, November 16, according to security sources.
The operation resulted in the deaths of key figures from the Fitna Al-Khawarij and Afghan Khawarij groups. Among those killed were Alam Mehsud, a former deputy of Abu Zakwan; Sri, son of Gul Nawaz; Sajid, son of Majeed; and Tariq, son of Hakeem.
Security sources confirmed that four of them were Afghan nationals. A further four terrorists were also injured in the engagement.Security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and materials from the area, including explosives, suicide jackets, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The operation neutralised a major threat, as the eliminated terrorists were responsible for planning and executing several high-profile attacks over the years. Alam Mehsud was identified as the mastermind behind the assault on the Nawaz Kot post in 2008, the Bannu jail attack in 2010, and an attack on an army post in 2014. Local elders have reportedly expressed satisfaction with the operation, commending the security forces’ efforts to establish peace in the region.
