LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has set a new benchmark in its fight against corruption, financial fraud and land grabbing, reporting a record recovery of Rs8.4 trillion over the past two-and-a-half years.
This figure, achieved between March 2023 and October 2025, represents the highest recovery in the institution’s history.
According to the NAB sources, prior to this period, the total recovery from its establishment in 1999 to February 2023 stood at Rs883 billion.
However, the recent surge in recoveries has been 10 times higher, a success attributed to the bureau’s revamped strategies and rigorous enforcement actions.
A significant portion of this recovery comes from large-scale operations led by NAB’s Land Directorate, which managed to reclaim vast tracts of government land from encroachment mafias.
The value of the land recovered is said to be in trillions of rupees, contributing substantially to the overall recovery figures.
With the current momentum, NAB officials predict that another Rs2,000 billion could be recovered by the end of 2025, further boosting the bureau’s success in tackling corruption and illegal land encroachments.
“Operations against corrupt practices and illegal land allotments are expected to continue next month as part of NAB’s ongoing efforts to safeguard public resources,” the sources added.
