LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said in her message on the World Diabetes Day that diabetes is a dangerous and silent enemy that can be controlled through care, awareness and a disciplined lifestyle.
She noted that the rising percentage of diabetes in Pakistan is alarming and demands a more effective and urgent response to combat this disease. She emphasized that health is a fundamental right of every citizen and the Punjab government is committed to delivering this right to every doorstep in the province.
She said while highlighting a groundbreaking initiative for the first time in history, insulin kits are being delivered directly to the doorsteps of children suffering from Type-1 diabetes.
She added that the government continues to ensure provision of free medicines in all public hospitals so that no patient bears any financial burden on getting medical treatment.
She urged citizens to become guardians of their own health by adopting a healthy lifestyle. She emphasized that balanced nutrition, regular exercise and consistent monitoring of blood sugar levels are very vital for preventing diabetes.
