Egypt envoy touts Suez Canal Zone as ‘strategic gateway’ for Pakistani investors
LAHORE: Egypt’s Ambassador, Dr Ihab Abdelhamid, has pitched the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a “strategic gateway” for Pakistani investors and urged deeper commercial ties across manufacturing, logistics, textiles and aviation during a visit to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
The Egyptian envoy, meeting with Lahore Chamber of Commerce President Faheemur Rehman Saigol, highlighted the 10-day sea cargo route to Egypt as a competitive advantage. He identified export opportunities for Pakistani Basmati rice, tractors, textiles and processed foods and promoted the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a manufacturing and distribution hub for Pakistani firms. Saigol called for a shift to sustained business ties through more trade exhibitions and chamber collaboration.
