LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired the 30th cabinet meeting on Wednesday, during which a proposal to increase fares of electric buses in Multan, Rawalpindi and Lahore was rejected.
The provincial cabinet officially ratified the ban on the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and approved recruitment of School Teacher Interns in government schools.
Under the chief minister’s vision of “One who possesses it owns it,” the cabinet approved the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025.The cabinet also approved a subsidy programme under the Chief Minister High-Tech Farm Mechanisation Finance Programme. The meeting agreed to launch the sugarcane crushing season by November 15. It was briefed that more than 10,000 applications have been received for the programme, including 1,500 submitted to the Bank of Punjab. Under the scheme, the government will provide super seeders and other modern farm machinery at a 60 percent subsidy.
Under the Kisan Card Phase-II, Rs100 billion have been disbursed and a record Rs70 billion recovered from the previous phase. Officials informed that after repayment, second-phase disbursements are processed within 24 hours. The cabinet was also updated on supply and price control of DAP and urea fertilizers. The chief minister remarked that agriculture suffered in the past due to lack of focus on mechanisation.
